Washington Nationals reliever Kyle Finnegan now has an infamous claim to fame after becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to give up a walk-off walk due to a pitch clock violation in Saturday night's 8-7 loss to Colorado.
Finnegan was brought on in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game as the Nationals held a 7-6 lead. Unfortunately, Finnegan gave up four consecutive singles, earning a blown save after the third single tied the game at 7-7. With the bases loaded, Finnegan worked the count on Rockies batter Ryan McMahon to 3-2. However, before Finnegan could throw the 3-2 pitch, the pitch clock reached zero. The pitch clock violation resulted in an automatic ball four, and the walk gave the Rockies the win.

Although he seemed rather calm, we would not blame Finnegan for being angry with himself and releasing some frustration. His final stats for the game include four singles, that walk, and two earned runs without recording an out. Finnegan will want to put this game behind him as quickly as possible.
