Bronny James gets technical foul for arguing with official (Video)

Bronny James, Lakers vs. Hawks, NBA Summer League, 7/17/2024

Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Bronny James received a technical foul for arguing with a referee during Wednesday night's NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas.

It happened with about 8:30 remaining in the third quarter with the Hawks leading the Lakers 50-44. James took the pass near the three-point line and drove down the lane, but the ball was stripped from him and went out of bounds as he tried to shoot. James felt he was fouled, but the official behind the basket did not call one, instead saying it was Hawks ball.

James looked like he was going to let it go as he started walking back to play defense, but then he turned and continued his argument with the official. At that point he must have said something that the official felt crossed the line, and he was T'd up.

James held back from arguing any further, although it looked like he had more to say, but was separated from the referee by a teammate.

Despite the technical foul, James had his best Summer League performance so far, scoring 12 points in 24 minutes as the Lakers came back to beat the Hawks 87-86.
