Norwegian soccer match suspended as fans toss fish cakes on field (Video)

In Norwegian soccer action, Sunday's Eliteserien match between Rosenborg BK and Lillestrom was suspended as fans tossed fish cakes onto the field to protest the use of a Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The protest started shortly after kickoff as the match was stopped in the second minute due to the fish cakes. The officials send the players sent to the locker room while the grounds crew cleaned up the field.

Play resumed, but the fan protests escalated, with smoke bombs being tossed onto the field in the 12th minute of the match, forcing the officials to stop play once again.

After being restarted, the match had to be stopped a third time when several dozen tennis balls were dropped onto the field in the 31st minute from the upper deck of the stadium. At that point, the officials decided to abandon the match and fans were asked to leave the stadium.

According to Reuters, many Eliteserien fans are complaining that the matches are being spoiled due to extended VAR delays.
