Red Sox fan drops HR ball from top of Green Monster, Mariners vs. Red Sox, 7/29/2024

A Boston Red Sox fan was crushed after dropping a home run ball from the top of the Green Monster during Monday night's game at Fenway Park against Seattle.

It happened in the bottom of the fifth with no one on and nobody out with the Red Sox leading 10-1. On the 0-1 pitch, Red Sox batter Dominic Smith extended the Red Sox lead with a 353 foot home run to left field. The ball traveled in the air to the top of the Green Monster with a fan in the front row sitting in perfect position to catch the ball.

Unfortunately, the fan was not able to get a grip on the ball with his bare hands, and the ball fell onto the field. Based on his reaction, it was obvious that the fan was extremely disappointed.

You don't get chances like that every day. Next time, bring a glove to the game. At least he didn't lose his popcorn, or his nachos.

As for the game, the Red Sox beat the Mariners 14-7.
