The Los Angeles Angels played the "OMG" single recorded by New York Mets second baseman Jose Iglesias over the PA system to taunt him during Friday night's game at Angel Stadium.
Earlier this summer, Iglesias recorded the single under the name "Candelita" and it went straight to number 1 on Billboard's Latin Digital Song Sales chart. Iglesias actually sang "OMG" after a Mets victory on June 28, the day the song was released on streaming platforms.
This was a road game for the Mets, however, and the Angels clearly had the song cued up for the right moment. It happened in the top of the ninth inning with one out and nobody on. Despite the Angels losing the game 5-1, they decided to play the snippet "OMG" to mock Iglesias after he grounded out to third.

We have seen players mock other players on the field, or players mocked by celebrities, but when a team is mocking an opposing player over the PA system, that's just petty. This is a bad look for the Angels, not just because they were losing (and the Mets held on to win 5-1), but the Angels have one of the worst records in the American League. The Angels are in no position to be mocking anyone else. They need to worry about winning baseball games.
