Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Pitcher was caught losing track of the count as he started walking to the dugout after strike two during Monday night's game in Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.
It happened in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs and nobody on as the Twins held a 1-0 lead. After Mike Tauchman swung and missed to make the count 3-2, Testa took about eight steps towards the dugout before realizing that the inning was not over.

Apparently Testa thought the fastball he threw for the first pitch of Tauchman's at-bat was a strike, as he was seen asking "Where was the first pitch?" as he walked back to the mound.
We have seen batters lose track of the count before, but it is unusual for a pitcher to lose track of the count. However, in this case it seemed that Testa missed a ball call on a pitch he thought was a strike. At least he didn't lose track of the outs, as that usually leads to disaster.
Testa got his strikeout with a called third strike just two pitches later. He pitched five shutout innings with nine strikeouts and only two walks as he earned the victory as the Twins beat the Cubs 3-0.
