In Thursday night college football action, Minnesota lost to North Carolina 19-17 in heartbreaking fashion after missing the game-winning field goal attempt on the final play. However, that didn't prevent the stadium fireworks from going off as the game ended.
With four seconds left, Minnesota lined up for a 47-yard field goal attempt near the right hashmark. Senior kicker Dragan Kesich had enough leg, but the wind pushed the ball wide right. It was Kesich's second missed field goal of the night.
NO GOOD 😱

Golden Gopher fans were clearly disappointed at the outcome. However, someone upstairs must have saw the ball go through the uprights, and that person happened to be in charge of the stadium fireworks. That led to the strange sight of fireworks going off to "celebrate" the loss.

As we have seen over the years, college football games can be a bit chaotic. Back in 2022, a cannon was fired to celebrate an East Tennessee State touchdown during the extra point attempt. Needless to say, confusion ensued.
Looks like Minnesota has some work to do to get things on the right track. Not only do they need an upgrade at kicker, but they need someone else in charge of the fireworks.
