New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole was denied an autograph by the Philadelphia Phillies mascot, the Philly Phanatic, during Wednesday's game at Citizens Bank Park.
Cole was supposed to pitch against the Phillies on Tuesday but was scratched due to fatigue. During a break in the game, Cole tossed the Phanatic a ball to sign, and the Phanatic happened to have a pen on him. However, instead of signing the ball, he wrote a message and showed it to the camera: "NO! Go Phils!"

Not only that, but instead of handing the ball back to Cole, he put the ball on the ground in front of the dugout, making Cole have to come out of the dugout to get it. When Cole picked up the ball, he couldn't help but laugh.
The Philly Phanatic always delivers comedy gold to fans in the stadium and on television. We know Bryce Harper is a big fan of the Phanatic.
Cole and the Yankees did get some measure of revenge as they beat the Phillies 6-5 to complete a three-game sweep.
