The Los Angeles Dodgers honored superstar Shohei Ohtani with his own bobblehead night during Wednesday's game against Baltimore, and Ohtani's dog Decoy was given the honor of "throwing" the ceremonial first pitch.
Ohtani carried Decoy out to the pitcher's mound and asked it to sit down next to the ball on the ground. Ohtani then positioned himself behind home plate as a catcher and commanded Decoy to bring him the ball. Decoy picked up the ball and brought it to Ohtani, receiving a nice little treat as a reward.
Decoy and Shohei with the cutest first pitch you've ever seen. 😠pic.twitter.com/fEoFRxMOH4

Although this was not technically a throw, it was impressive and executed flawlessly. We cannot confirm whether this was the first time a dog "threw" a first pitch for an MLB game as Dodgers announcers claimed. However, we did see Toys "R" Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe throw the first pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays one time.
As if part of the script, Ohtani hit a solo home run in his first at-bat of the night. He finished 2-for-4 and scored three runs as the Dodgers went on to beat the Orioles 6-4 to maintain their division lead in the National League West.
