Western Michigan DB Nyquann Washington leapfrogs official vs. Wisconsin (Video)

Nyquann Washington leapfrogs back judge, Western Michigan vs. Washington, 8/31/2024

Western Michigan redshirt junior cornerback Nyquann Washington leapfrogged over an official in the back of the end zone during Saturday's game at Wisconsin.

It happened on a Wisconsin two-point attempt after Wisconsin took a 19-14 lead with a 6-yard touchdown run by Tawee Walker. Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke threw to wide receiver Trech Kekahuna, who made a leaping catch in the back of the end zone for a successful two-point conversion. The back judge crouched down near the back line of the end zone to take a closer look at Kekahuna's feet and make sure that he got one foot in bounds.

Washington was on the opposite side of the end zone and tried to run over late. While the back judge was about to get up from his crouch to signal the conversion was good, rather than going around him, Washington decided to leap over him as if playing leapfrog.

It was a strange sight to see, but we can only imagine what the back judge was thinking. However, it could have been worse. At least Washington was able to avoid colliding with the referee, which is the most important thing.

Washington finished the game with one solo tackle as the Badgers beat the Broncos 28-14.
