SF Giants rookies dress as Willy Wonka, Oompa-Loompas for final road trip (Video)

SF Giants rookies dress as Willy Wonka Characters, 9/22/2024

The San Francisco Giants took their final road trip of the 2024 season and made their rookie playes dress up as Willy Wonka and the Oompa Loompas from the classic Roahl Dahl book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and the movies it inspired.

The Giants had just completed a sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Sunday and were traveling to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks for the final leg of their 9-game road trip. Before getting on the plane, they posed for photos in their costumes.

Pitcher Sean Hjelle had the honor of playing Willy Wonka, possibly because they could not find an Oompa Loompa costume to fit his 6'11" frame.

We have seen various professional athletes dressed in costumes for Halloween and other occassions, and it is always good for a few laughs.

Although they have officially been eliminated from the playoffs, it's good to see they are still trying to have a little fun.
