Kirby Smart shoves Mississippi St. QB Michael Van Buren Jr. (Video)

Kirby Smart shoves Michael Van Buren Jr., Mississippi State vs. Georgia, 10/13/2024

Georgia Bulldogs head football coach Kirby Smart inexplicably shoved Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. during Saturday's SEC football game at Sanford Stadium.

It happened with just under three minutes remaining in the game as Georgia led 41-24. Mississippi State had the ball 1st and 10 on their own 43-yard line. Van Buren dropped back to pass but had to scramble to avoid the rush and ran out of bounds on the Georgia sideline, gaining 6 yards on the play. As Van Buren turned around to head back to the huddle, Smart was screaming at a referee and shoved Van Buren out of his way.

We have seen plenty of temper tantrums by coaches over the years, but usually they involve throwing inanimate objects, not shoving opposing players.

Why is Kirby Smart shoving ANYBODY? He is supposed to be a leader of men. Part of that job is leading by example. This is not a good look, regardless of the circumstances.
