Oregon Duck mascot sprays Pete Thamel with silly string on College GameDay (Video)

Oregon Duck sprays Pete Thamel with Silly String, ESPN College GameDay, 10/12/2024

ESPN college football senior writer Pete Thamel powered through a live report despite being sprayed with silly string by the Oregon Duck mascot during Saturday's episode of College GameDay live from the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.

Thamel was giving an injury update for several key players in Saturday's games. As the camera panned to him, the Oregon Duck begin spraying him with neon green silly string, which happens to match the school colors of Oregon. Naturally, the College GameDay crew busted up in hysterical laughter.

Thamel proved his true professionalism by continuing on with his report as if nothing was happening, even though the right side of his head was completely covered with the silly string. That earned some deserved complements from the GameDay crew, with Nick Saban saying he was impressed with Thamel's "focus and discipline to be able to deliver in that circumstance."

Unfortunately, Lee Corso missed College GameDay for the second straight week, so we did not get to see him make one of his famous headgear picks. That's not necessarily a bad thing, however, as during one of GameDay's previous visits to Oregon, Corso nearly killed a live duck after donning the Duck mascot headgear.

Eugene hosts the biggest game of the weekend as the third-ranked Oregon Ducks host the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in a Big Ten Conference showdown. Should be a good one.
