Colorado Buffaloes sophomore cornerback DJ McKinney was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for mimicking a dog peeing to celebrate a touchdown during Friday's blowout win over Oklahoma State.
It happened in the first minute of the fourth quarter with Oklahoma State pinned deep in their own end of the field and trailing 38-0. On 2nd and 16 from their own 2-yard line, Cowboys quarterback Maealiuaki Smith took the shotgun snap and threw a pass that was intercepted by McKinney at the 13-yard line. McKinney used his speed (and a couple of blockers) to make his way to the end zone for the easy pick-six to extend the Colorado lead.
For whatever reason, however, McKinney decided to use his moment in the spotlight to draw attention to himself by putting the football down and pretending to pee on it like a dog.

McKinney received a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, and deservedly so. Not sure what it is about a dog peeing that athletes want to emulate, but it is such a classless move. There is no reason for that, especially when you are up by such a large margin. Come on, DJ, is this how you want to be remembered? If it was up to us, he would be benched for the rest of the game and possibly the next game, too.
This play did not decide the game as Colorado won 52-0, but players need to focus on helping their team win and not trying to draw attention to themselves.
