In CONMEBOL soccer action, Thursday's 2026 World Cup Qualifier match between Venezuela and Brazil was briefly interrupted when the sprinklers turned on.
It happened in the 94th minute of the match as Brazil was trying to capitalize on a corner kick opportunity. Play was stopped after Venezuela cleared the ball towards midfield. The players were in disbelief, with Brazil forward Estêvão Willian trying to step on one of the sprinklers to push it back into the ground.

We have seen soccer matches interrupted by sprinklers before. Looks like the groundskeepers need to reset the timer on them. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Venezuela managed to hold on for a 1-1 draw despite playing the last 10 minutes of the match with only 10 men after defender Alexander González received a red card.
