New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers found himself the center of a hilarious situation when he was penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness during Sunday's loss in Buffalo.
It happened about halfway through the third quarter with the Jets losing 12-0. On 3rd and 19 from the Buffalo 41-yard line, Rodgers took the shotgun snap, dropped back to pass and threw to receiver Allen Lazard near the 20, but it was interecpted by Bills cornerback Christian Benford. Benford took advantage of some open field by returning it to the Bills 47 yard line before being chased out of bounds by Breece Hall and Rodgers, who pushed Benford down to the ground after he was already two steps out of bounds. The late push drew the penalty flag for unnecessary roughness.
Quarterbacks are usually the victims of unnecessary roughness, typically due to late hits after throwing the ball. For a quarterback to be penalized for unnecessary roughness themselves is so unusual that the referee couldn't help but laugh while announcing the penalty to the crowd.

Rodgers has had some temper tantrums after throwing picks in the past, but he seems to have matured enough to keep things in perspective this time around. CBS cameras captured him chuckling on the bench after the penalty was announced.
That was the beginning of the wheels completely falling off for the Jets, who proceeded to give up four second half touchdowns to the Bills, who won the game 40-14.
