Nic Claxton ejected for tossing ball into stands vs. Raptors (Video)

Nic Claxton tosses ball into stands, Nets vs. Raptors, 12/19/2024

Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton was ejected from Thursday night's NBA game in Toronto for tossing the basketball into the stands in frustration.

It happened with under nine minutes remaining in the second quarter with the Raptors holding a 31-29 lead. As Claxton dribbled across halfcourt, he was fouled intentionally by Raptors power forward Kelly Olynyk. The whistles blew to stop play as Claxton dribbled down the open lane. Apparently frustrated with getting fouled on an earlier possession that was not called, Claxton inexplicably tossed the ball up and into the stands in the corner of the court.

Here's another camera angle of Claxton's frustrations coming to a boiling point:

It was not obvious at the time, but Claxton was immediately ejected from the game for the toss. He finished with 7 points and 5 rebounds in only 11 minutes. It was Claxton's third ejection of the season in only 27 games. We know Claxton does not like to be disrespected, but a move like this seems a bit over the top. Looks like he could use some anger management training.

Despite the loss of Claxton's services, the Nets managed to stay focused and beat the Raptors 101-94 to end a 3-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Raptors have now lost six straight games.
