Amen Thompson ejected for grabbing Giannis Antetokounmpo in neck (Video)

Amen Thompson grabs Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks vs. Rockets, 2/25/2025

Houston Rockets forward Amen Thompson was ejected from Tuesday night's NBA game against Milwaukee for grabbing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in the neck.

It happened with 4:27 remaining in the fourth quarter with the Rockets leading 92-90. After Antetokounmpo spun around Thompson to make his move to the basket, he made a fake to get Thompson to jump in the air. As Thompson came down, he wrapped Antetokounmpo's neck with both hands to prevent him from going up to take the shot.

The officials called a foul, but upon review, it was obvious that Thompson's foul deserved a flagrant 2 and an ejection. Thompson did not intentionally grab his opponent's neck, but his attempt to stop Antetokounmpo's shot was over the top in terms of unnecessary roughness.

Thompson finished with 9 points and rebounds. Without him, the Rockets held strong and beat the Bucks 100-97.
