Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt served as bat boy for the team during Saturday's spring training game against the New York Yankees as punishment for finishing last place in the team's fantasy football league.
Teammate Dalton Varshow served as commissioner of the Blue Jays fantasy football league this past year, and Bassitt had the misfortune of finishing in last place. Bassitt finished his season with a 4-10 record, which we know because 4-10 was prominently featured on the back of the jersey that he wore for the game. Saturday also happened to be Bassitt's birthday, as he turned 36 years old.

Fantasy football is fun to play, but it is very challenging. Not only does it take good drafting, but also a lot of luck. A couple of injuries to key players can ruin a season. We don't know what happened to Bassitt's team, but we certainly know the pain of having a bad season. However, Bassitt deserves kudos for being a good sport about the league punishment. Better luck next year.
As far as the game itself, the Blue Jays beat the Yankees 6-4.
