British middleweight boxer Chris Eubank Jr. slapped rival Brit middleweight Conor Benn with an egg during a pre-match face-off to promote their match taking place on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The fight between Eubank and Benn will headline The Ring Magazine's Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves pay-per-view event which will be aired live on DAZN. The match was originally scheduled for October 2022, but the fight was cancelled after Benn failed a voluntary drug test. Benn tested positive for clomifene, leading to his suspension and a two-year battle to clear his name. His suspension was lifted in November last year, and now the fight is back on.
In February 2023, an independent WBC report claimed that Benn's failed drug test could have been triggered by a "highly elevated consumption" of eggs. Fast-forward to Tuesday's face-off to hype their upcoming match as Eubank and Benn got face to face. After some words, Eubank took an egg out of his pocket and slapped Benn in the face with it in a clear pre-planned attack.

Multiple security guards stepped in to keep the fighters separated and prevent a full-fledged brawl.
We have seen brawls at boxing post-match press conferences before, but we have never seen a boxer bring a prop to hit their opponent with. Eubank has clearly been thinking about this fight for a long time. Two months from now, barring any more surprises, he will finally get his chance.
