Isles D Tony DeAngelo scores 2 goals...for Minnesota Wild (Video)

Tony DeAngelo scores second own goal, Islanders vs. Wild, 2/8/2025

New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo had a rough night as he accidentally knocked the puck into his own net twice during Saturday's NHL game in Minnesota.

The first one came at the 13:21 mark of the second period with the Isles leading 3-1. With the Wild on a power play, center Frederick Gaudreau took the shot from inside the blue line. DeAngelo was in front of the net and tried to get out of the way. Unfortunately, the puck deflected off his leg and past goaltender Ilya Sorokin into the net.

The second came at the 5:53 mark of the third period after the Wild took a 4-3 lead. Wild forward Matt Boldy centered the puck in front of the net. DeAngelo was again in front of the net, this time facing it. He tried to knock the puck away from the net, but instead knocked the puck right it, giving Boldy credit for an unassisted goal.

Knocking the puck into your own net once is bad enough. Doing it twice in the same night? That has to be an awful feeling. We hope DeAngelo can put this behind him quickly now that the game is over.

The Isles were unable to recover as the Wild came away with the 6-3 win.
