New York Sirens forward Abby Roque scored the first Michigan goal in the Professional Women's Hockey League history during Saturday's game against Ottawa.
It happened with 17:57 remaining in the third period with the Ottawa Charge holding a 3-1 lead. With the Sirens in control of the puck on the offensive end of the ice, Roque took the pass from teammate Jamie Bourbonnais, skated behind the net, lifted the puck onto her stick and flipped it into the top corner of the net past Charge goaltender Gwyneth Philips to cut the Charge lead to 3-2.

Roque was surrounded by her teammates as they celebrated her goal (and her impressive accomplishment).
Unfortunately, the Sirens were unable to build any momentum from Roque's historic goal. The Charge scored less then two minutes later to get back to a 2-goal lead and prevented the Sirens from scoring again in the period. In the end, the Charge beat the Sirens 5-2.
