Navy Midshipmen sophomore guard Jordan Pennick was ejected from Wednesday's Patriot League men's basketball championship game against American for punching an opposing player in the groin.
It happened with 18:28 remaining in the first half after American had just scored a basket to make the score 5-0. As Navy inbounded the ball from the baseline, Pennick had crossed halfcourt to position himself on offense when he was bumped by American sophomore forward Greg Jones. Pennick responded with a low blow to Jones' crotch, and the official blew the whistle when Jones crumpled up onto the floor in obvious pain.

After a review by the officials clearly showed the cheap shot by Pennick, the call was changed to a flagrant 2, and Pennick was sent to the locker room for the rest of the game. Based on our vantage point, the call was justified. There is no place in basketball for this nonsense. Surprising that Pennick would let himself lose his temper less than two minutes into the game.
Navy was unable to respond in Pennick's absence as American went on to beat Navy 74-52. American earned a spot in the NCAA tournament as Patriot League Champions, while Navy's season is likely over.
