Mike Tauchman comes up lame, thrown out at home for final out, White Sox lose (Video)

Mike Tauchman reinjures hamstring, White Sox vs. Guardians, 4/9/2025

Chicago White Sox right fielder Mike Tauchman was thrown out at home for the final out as he pulled up lame while trying to score the tying run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss in Cleveland.

Tauchman started the season on the 10-day injured list after injuring his hamstring late in spring training. He made his season debut with the White Sox this past Sunday. Unfortuantely, it looks like he may need to back on the injured list to give himself time to heal after this game.

In the top of the ninth with the Guardians leading 3-1, the White Sox had the bases loaded and two outs with Tauchman on second base representing the tying run. On the first pitch of his at-bat, White Sox batter Miguel Vargas singled to left field, scoring Jacob Amaya from third. Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan threw home in what might have been a close play at the plate. However, Tauchman slowed down in apparent pain after rounding third base and came to a stop about 10 feet from home plate, allowing catcher Austin Hedges to tag him for the easy out to seal the 3-2 victory for Cleveland.

Recently, we saw Tigers infielder Gleyber Torres hurt himself while hitting a HR. Like that injury, this also seems to be a case of plain old bad luck. You have to feel bad for Tauchman, who clearly feels frustrated with the situation. After going 3-for-4 at the plate in the game, he now has to go back to injury rehab.

As far as the White Sox, after starting the season 2-2, they have now lost seven straight games. This comes after a league worst record of 41-121 last year. It's safe to say that White Sox fans do not have a lot to be excited about these days.
