Athletics reliever Noah Murdock made the highlight reel with an amazing behind-the-back catch of a line drive during Thursday's MLB game in Chicago against the White Sox.
It happened in the bottom of the seventh inning with no one on and nobody out with the A's holding a 5-0 lead. On the 2-0 pitch of his at-bat, White Sox leadoff batter Edgar Quero hit a line drive that likely would have hit Murdock in the midsection. However, not only did Murdock avoid getting hit with cat-like reflexes, but also managed to snag the ball out of the air and make it look easy.
Absolutely incredible. Must be something with the A's, as we saw one of their ballboys make an incredible catch of a foul liner a few years back.
Murdoch pitched a perfect seventh inning and recorded two outs in the eighth before he was removed from the game after loading the bases. However, reliever TJ McFarland recorded the final out of the inning to keep the White Sox off the board. Jason Alexander pitched a perfect ninth inning to close out the 8-0 shutout for the A's, who have now won 3 straight games, while the White Sox have lost four straight and have the worst record in the major leagues.
