Stars fans continue singing Creed's 'Higher' after song cuts out on PA system (Video)

Avs-Stars faceoff as Creed Higher plays, Avalanche vs. Stars, 4/19/2025

Dallas Stars fans sang along with the classic Creed song "Higher" during Saturday's Game 1 of their first round Western Conference playoff series against Colorado - and kept singing even after the song cut out on the PA system at the American Airlines Arena.

It happened during a timeout at the 14:53 mark of the second period with the Avalanche leading 1-0. "Higher" was playing as both teams were set up for a faceoff inside the Avs blue line. The puck was dropped right before the chorus was about to start, so the song was stopped. However, that didn't stop the home Stars fans from singing the chorus anyway.

It makes sense that Stars fans would appreciate the song since the Texas Rangers adopted Creed's "Higher" as their rallying cry during the 2023 season when they won the World Series. Unfortunately, the song did not light underneath the Stars, or at least not yet.

Two minutes after this happened, the Avs scored to extend their lead to 2-0, and they went on to dominate the third period. The end result was the Avs winning 5-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The Stars will get another chance at home in Game 2 on Monday night.
